Hi | Hola | こんにちは | Welcome to EmilySaidHello.
N.B You may be reading this post a little later than the original publish date of 06th October 2021 and that’s because I’ve been a little unwell recently so I took some time away from writing and blogging to look after myself and recuperate. That being said, I am feeling better and ready to publish a bunch of draft posts and schedule in some posts for the week! Buckle in readers because there’s a bunch of posts ready to drop!
When I originally started blogging, back in 2017, I mostly used it as a means to procrastinate but with the underlying intention to improve my writing. Around this time I was working PT with Boots and falling rapidly in love with skin care and all things beauty related.
This passion led to me training as a skin care consultant and later working for No7 as a beauty consultant. Sadly, I’m no longer working in that role as I relocated and decided to focus on only one job – not two. My love for skin care still holds strong; I have a beauty fridge to keep my masks cool and a slightly large box to store my hoard of face masks in.
As Autumn comes around and Winter starts to peek around the corner, it’s time for us all to stock up on some skin care pick me ups and treat ourselves to some extra special TLC this season. Here are some affordable face masks that I recommend to keep those seasonal blues away.
Garnier Moisture Bomb Range
I’ve spoke about this mask before and as a range it remains a must-have that I stock up on regularly. This range retails at £2.99 per mask and is available to buy in Superdrug and Boots. This range is almost always on offer at either 3 for 2 or 99p – I believe at time of writing (October 2021), this range is on a 3 for 2 deal at both Superdrug and Boots. Stock up while you can, there is a choice of masks available depending on your skin concern:
As the weather gets colder, this can have an effect on our skin. Keeping your skin hydrated prevents breakouts and signs of early ageing – giving you a fresh face glow.
Boots Ingredients Sheet Mask Range
These masks retail at £1.50 and are often on some type of deal/discount. As a Boots own brand range these masks are often passed up for more well established brands which is a huge shame, as I feel that they pack quite the punch. I’ve used the Hyaluronic acid mask regularly for years and it remains a staple. I reach for this mask regardless of the weather and keep these to hand at all times. Hyaluronic acid acts as a barrier between the environment and our skin to keep moisture locked in – something we can all benefit from as the days get shorter.
This range recently went through a re-brand and the packing is different to what some customers may remember. There are new additions such as the collagen and peptide mask that can do wonders for brightening and tightening the skin.
The masks however could benefit from better sizing as the holes for eyes, mouth and nose fit a little oddly and require some maneuvering. These masks are also soaked in serum – no really, absolutely drenched and for those of you who don’t enjoy that, these may not be for you.
If you don’t mind, then a pro-tip is to use the left over serum the following day as part of your skin care routine.
SuperDrug Vitamin E Leave On Face Mask
If you have dry skin or the cold weather is causing tight, flaky skin to start patching up then head on down to Superdrug and pick up this little wonder for £3.49.
This mask is vegan friendly and is marketed as a 10 minute pick me up. Packed with vitamin E and jojoba oils, this moisture mask is applied as a gel to the skin, that you leave to soak in and then remove with a cotton pad.
Perfect to bring back your skin’s natural hydration and keep your skin soft throughout winter.
Do you use these masks in your current skin care routine? Have you tried them already? Excited to try a new skin pick me up this autumn? Drop a comment and let me know your thoughts – and recommendations if you have them!
