Hey lovelies,
I’ve been entirely MIA for exams but I’ve only got one more to go!
I also managed to let some steam off last weekend (may 27th-28th) for bank holiday weekend which coincidentally was pride weekend. 🌈
I had a lovely weekend putting these products to the test. In those photos I am wearing a full face of Tarte make up. Keep reading to find out more.
Disclaimer: The products I intend to review were gifted to me as a birthday present. For more information, visit here.
Tarte: 7 for £50 was a limited time offer where you could buy 7 full sized products. This included a make up bag, foundation, eye liner, lipstick, blush, mascara and a brush. Delivery was smooth, quick, and hassle-free. It’s an added bonus that you can pay for customs fees up front as well.

1 – The make up bag:
The bag is a little messy now (I’ve been using it, don’t judge) but it’s adorable. I chose this bag because it was one of the more simpler designs. The purple is gorgeous, isn’t it?
2 – The Brush: double ended camouflage brush
I do not own a brush like this so I thought why not! A beauty sponge on one end and a bristle brush on one end, sounds really useful for traveling as it takes up less space in comparison to a brush and a beauty sponge separately.
At first I did not like this brush. Truthfully, I couldn’t get it to work for me. After some practise, testing and all of that jazz I am happier with it. I use the brush end to apply foundation and then blend blend blend with the beauty sponge. Edit Note: this method doesn’t work with all foundations but it does work with the Tarte Hybrid Gel.

3 – Foundation: Tarte Hybrid Gel Foundation
I’ve not heard much about this foundation before and the description intrigued me. I had my apprehension about the shade: fair to light neutral. Fair skin shades can be hit or miss. I was right, shade is bit too dark.
The hybrid gel foundation has a smell to it. I really don’t know what the smell is but it’s there. Like a skin-care chemical smell.
The foundation claims:
A poreless, full coverage gel foundation with skin-smoothing hyaluronic acid
All claims are correct! The foundation is long lasting. It gives a dewy, full coverage look but unfortunately I can only reach for the foundation when I’ve applied self tanner. There are 16 shades available in the range but when the offer was available, the shade range was limited.

This foundation retails for £30. It has a complimentary brush to be used with it but I think any brush would work fine. I think this is best for dry skin as it is beautifully dewy but for combo. For us oily skin types setting spray and powder is needed.
4 – The Blush: Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Celebrated
Retails for £23 and comes in 8 shades. “celebrated” is a pink nude matte blush that is lush. It doesn’t show up well in any swatches. The colour is picked up much better with a brush and is a buildable blush.

5 – The eyeliner, Lights Camera Lashes Precision Liner in Black
This eyeliner retails for £20 and has absolutely stole my heart. It’s a felt tip liquid liner that is easy to apply, pigmented with a matte finish.

Zero complaints. It’s long wearing and extremely pigmented. I’ve not been so impressed by a liner from the first use!

6 – The Mascara, Lights Camera Splashes Waterproof Mascara in Black
Out of the whole bag, this was one of my least favourite products. This retails for £19 and the claims sound amazing butttt….
There’s always a but ain’t there,
But the drugstore can do it better. Whoops, I said it.
Dare to dip? Discover our best selling lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara in a waterproof version. The same lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning benefits you love in the original are in this splash proof version. Get the bombshell lashes you desire, while olive esters condition, treat and protect your lashes.
The mascara does volumise but lengthening? Curling? Ummmm not really. The mascara works better with pre curled lashes but for wham eye lashes this isn’t my fave. If I was having a natural “no make up, make up day” then I would reach for this.
The packaging is not great. Too bulky, feels odd and I don’t understand the faux crocodile print from a vegan brand?
7 – The Lipstick, Tarteist Matte Lip Paint in Festival
Last but by certainly no means least, a lip product and it’s my favourite item out of the whole bag!
The colour is beautiful, the formula is light weight and long lasting and the packaging is 😍
Tarteist lip paint retails for £15 and there was a choice between two of the limited colours “festival” which is a mauve and “fairy tale” which is a bold mint colour.
Before the 7 for £50 offer I had never used a Tarte cosmetics product before. I’m a drugstore/bargain type of girl and have only the odd high(er) end products. Not really sensible to indulge in luxury items as a student.
Tarte ships internationally and there is an option to pay customs upfront. The brand is also vegan friendly which is great.
That’s all for today folks, until next time.
Take care, love Em x
