Love Me Beauty: April Edit

The information available is accurate to the date published: 14/04/2017 , as such this may no longer be a reflection of fact. Please take this into consideration when reading.

Back again with another Love Me Beauty post! Usually beauty posts are reserved for Wednesday but as I missed last Wednesday’s post here’s a double dose of beauty, as promised, to compensate!

If you didn’t catch last months Love Me Beauty post, please go check it out. This is my second bag from Love Me Beauty and is more make up centered than previous.

Love Me Beauty is a subscription service where you get to chose which items you receive each month and you get a cute make up bag with it too!

Love me Beauty costs £10 a month, plus £3 delivery. There are promo codes to get 20% off your first box. My code, however, gives you some extra credits to fill up your bag with more goodies!

[MY CODE IS: EMILY1626242]

This edit contained 22 items to choose from including some from last month’s edit, giving youo the chance to choose items that you might not have had enough credits for.

Eye catching products that were included:

  • Kat Von D eyeliner, liquid lip,
  • Make-up Forever powder
  • and products from Dr Bragi.

My subscription plan allows for me to have 60 credits to use.

The first two products I chose were from Kat Von D:

KVD TATTOO LINER 0.2ml – 15 Credits

The Editors Notes claim:

You’ll never struggle with liner again. This precision brush tip applicator makes liner so easy, with a bold, colour rich formula for instant drama. Start from the inner corner and work your way outwards for faultless application, every time.

Now, I’ve seen a few people raving about this eyeliner and how rich the pigmentation is and how easy it is to apply with minimal to no tugging.

Kat Von D‘s eyeliner, in Trooper, retails for £16 at 0.55ml.

Throughout my review I may draw comparisons between KVD and the eyeliner I currently use. I currently use No7‘s stay precise felt tip eyeliner that retails at £8.00.

Since receiving my bag I’ve played around with the tattoo eyeliner a few times and I’m pretty on the fence about it. Yes the brush tip is flexible so even a novice at winged eyeliner would find application easy. I can agree, also, that it is rich in pigment but once it dries, the product is patchy and the colour uneven. The pigment was rich in certain parts but then appeared more faded in other areas. If I attempted to redraw over the line to darken the line, the product would start to flake off.

This annoyed me to no end.

L: No7 Stay Precise R: KVD Tattoo Liner

In the photo above, you can see the No7 liner is not as rich in pigment in comparison to the KVD tattoo liner.

The liner was cute, it was miniature making it travel sized but the flaking is a deal breaker for me.

The next Kat Von D product I purchased was the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lip in Outlaw 3ml 20 Credits

The Editors Notes claim:

Whether you’re getting ready for a night out, dinner with friends or just know you need your make up to stay in place all day, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is your weapon of choice. Keep it matte or top with a balm or gloss for a stain that will last, unconditionally.

Now this is a claim I can get behind!

The reality of the product lives up to its claims.

This liquid lip is amaze! The product has staying power, the colour is pigmented with even application and doesn’t dry sticky.

Gotta love mini items

Cons: There is a slight smell to the product that does disappear after application and there is a small amount of transfer throughout the day

This miniature item has definitely persuaded me to purchase the full sized product in different colours.

KVD liquid lip retails at £17.00.

The third item in my Love Me Beauty Bag is:

Make-up Forever Ultra HD Loose Powder 1g 20 Credits

I have yet to find a loose powder that I like. The few that I have tried are chalky and take away from the base that I am using. I typically tend to opt for compact powders, my current powder is MUA’s Skin Define Hydro Powder.

In the past I have used Rimmel’s loose powder which was a little meh.

The loose powder by Make up Forever’s powder has been used to bake my under eye area after applying a light concealer. It’s left my under eye area smooth, creaseless but I feel that it slightly oxideses my concealer, taking away the brightening effect intended.

This product needs a couple more tests before I decide if I love or hate it.

After the choices above, I had 5 credits left to use and only one item on the edit was 5 credits.

Amie purifying facial wash & Matte Finish Moisturiser 2 x 10 ml 5 Credits

When skin is sensitive or needs a super gentle formula, this duo does the trick! The cleanser was winner of a 2017 Beauty Shortlist ‘Editor’s Choice’ and the brand topped the Best Skincare Brand (20+) winner’s list. High praise indeed – we couldn’t agree more!

Unfortunately I can’t give a review on either of these just yet as I’ve not yet used them.

Keep your eyes peeled for their review!

Also, if you’ve read this far or if you follow me on social media then you’ll know I have a collab coming up with NYX on the 26th of this month. ( Special thanks to Abbie from the Bullring Birmingham store fore reaching out.)

Thank you for reading! An extra special Easter Sunday Book Club post is on it’s way
